Hello!

Welcome to Lean and Green: Your source for how to drive sustainability and profitability in your supply chain and logistics

First, I want to thank you for visiting and I look forward to your feedback about our vision and execution to date.

Second, I'd like to share a little bit about me and how the site came to be.

I spent 15 years at FedEx working on everything from their global reverse logistics initiatives to leading the development of their customer-facing reporting tools, before I started looking into the rightsizing of packaging and its potential impact on carriers, shippers, the environment, etc.

Eventually, I was recruited to become a Chief Sustainability Officer for a 3PL and electronics distribution company.

As the CSO I found myself spending hours searching for information about how to reduce our environmental impact.

I thought I'd be able to find a sustainability playbook for shippers, but instead I found scraps of information scattered about the web, with huge gaps about how organizations could reduce their emissions today!

Most of the information was about future technologies, which won't help logistics organizations take action now, or was confusing and contradictory.

What I also came to realize is that while almost everyone wants to be sustainable, they have to be profitable, and so if you want people/organizations to cut their environmental impact, you have to show them how they're going to save money and grow sales in the process.

The good news that there is almost a 100% correlation between optimizing your logistics and reducing your environmental impact, so you can absolutely slash your costs and environmental impact at the same time.

Since I love writing and I’m the one-eyed man in the land of the blind, I’ve decided to share my insights with you so that you can take action to cut your emissions while growing your business and profits.

  1. Did the site help you take action? If so what did you do?

  2. Did it help you save time or make better decisions? If so, how?

  3. What additional types of information you'd like?

  4. Any other ways I can make the site better?

  5. Companies that you think might be good sponsors.

Finally, you have my promise you’ll get honest, no-BS information about ways to truly reduce your logistics impact from someone who cares about the planet, your time and your pocketbook.

Thank you!
